Partnership Spotlight: School on Wheels

For more than 10 years, School on Wheels has been making house calls to the residents of Gabriel’s House. Volunteer Andy is visiting weekly to tutor 10-year-old Ayden. Ayden, his brother, and mother are residents of Gabriel’s House, and Ayden was struggling in school due to autism. School on Wheels has the skilled volunteers to help children like Ayden master a variety of school subjects, while gaining important self-esteem. Ayden’s mom, Michelle, says Ayden eagerly anticipates his tutoring each week. He watches for Andy to arrive! School on Wheels is a non-profit organization, deploying hundreds of volunteers to provide free tutoring and mentoring to children from kindergarten through 12th grade living in shelters, motels, vehicles, group foster homes, and the streets of Southern California. They operate in both Ventura and Los Angeles counties. We are grateful to partner with School on Wheels to see the children of Gabriel’s House thrive and learn! Garden Party April 22, 2023

The Gabriel’s House Garden Party was a beautiful day of giving! Our silent and live auctions raised more than $24,000 for house improvements. We also received a gracious outpouring in general donations to support the day-to-day operations of our unique residential shelter for homeless women and children. A special thank you to Miranda and Kristyn for sharing their powerful testimonies and to Sophia deDomenico who presented our exciting live auction. We also want to thank all our board members, staff, and faithful volunteers who give so much of their time and resources to make these events a success. Our biggest thank you goes out to God who provides all things!

Grants Administrator Katrina Veronica of the Gene Haas Foundation recently announced a $25,000 grant award to Gabriel’s House. Established in 1999 by Haas Automation Founder Gene Haas, the Gene Haas Foundation supports the needs of the local community and is one of the best examples of Oxnard businesses giving back. We are deeply grateful for their generosity.

National Women’s Day March 8, 2022

Leaders from Enterprise Holdings visited Gabriel’s House to encourage our residents on National Women’s Day. They came bearing roses and a delicious dinner for all the women and children. They also donated several sets of twin sheets. We are so grateful for these new friends and hope to build a long-lasting relationship with the caring and compassionate team at Enterprise Holdings!

Celebrating 10 Years!

On October 30, we had a wonderful 10th Anniversary Celebration as we recognized the many courageous women and children who have chosen the path to lasting change through the programs we offer at Gabriel’s House.
Even though the tables and chairs have been put away, we’re still celebrating all that God has done and is doing! We’re still counting the lives changed and the blessings received because of you, our generous donors! We are grateful to God for your faithful support through the years!
