For more than 10 years, School on Wheels has been making house calls to the residents of Gabriel’s House. Volunteer Andy is visiting weekly to tutor 10-year-old Ayden. Ayden, his brother, and mother are residents of Gabriel’s House, and Ayden was struggling in school due to autism. School on Wheels has the skilled volunteers to help children like Ayden master a variety of school subjects, while gaining important self-esteem. Ayden’s mom, Michelle, says Ayden eagerly anticipates his tutoring each week. He watches for Andy to arrive! School on Wheels is a non-profit organization, deploying hundreds of volunteers to provide free tutoring and mentoring to children from kindergarten through 12th grade living in shelters, motels, vehicles, group foster homes, and the streets of Southern California. They operate in both Ventura and Los Angeles counties. We are grateful to partner with School on Wheels to see the children of Gabriel’s House thrive and learn!
